Pre-reading for The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

When I first heard of the title, ‘The Outsiders’, I immediately thought of a group of people being left out, not noticed. After seeing the cover, I think that the ‘group of people’ would be the four boys on the cover. I think that the four boys on the cover will, in the story, somehow change the city that is also on the cover. I think this because of the way the four boys are posing on the cover — it looks very dramatic. But the city below them looks rather dull.
