Nothing Gold Can Stay - The Outsiders

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay
-Robert Frost

In the book, The Outsiders, we have read a poem called 'Nothing Gold Can Stay'. In the story the characters, Ponyboy and Johnny, were watching the sunrise, while thoughts swarmed around Ponyboy's head.
I think this poem means that everything changes. For example, changing from happy to sad, mad or confused, or to begin young and grow up. It also means that everything good will eventually fade away, as it hard to have perfect life. When I first read this poem, the first thing I thought of was time passing by. You can’t control time.
This relates to Ponyboy’s situation because he had Soda, at the beginning, and he loved Soda. But he had a fight with Darry and ran away; he was happy and then he was mad and sad. Another example is how he first met Cherry. But his friend Johnny killed her boyfriend and they ran away.
Here's the picture I made:
