Unit 1 Math Test Reflection

I have finished my first unit in math; Whole Numbers! I made a reflection about the test we did that summarized what we learned in that unit. Here it is:
Overall, I think I did average in the Whole Number Unit Test. Basic concept were easy for me, but more challenging ideas and concepts were very hard, and around half of those kind of questions were wrong.
For Criterion A (Knowledge & Understanding) I think I will get a 4 or a 5 out of 8. I think I will get this score because I can usually transfer basic concepts into moderately hard questions. For example, in the word problem in Part G (Extension/Unfamiliar Situations) p. 5, ‘There were 42 mangoes in each crate. 12 such crates of mangoes were delivered to a factory. 4 mangoes were rotten and had to be thrown away. The remaining mangoes were packed in boxes of 10 mangoes each. How many boxes of mangoes were there?’ I cut it down it smaller chunks to deal with. First I did 42 (number of mangoes at the beginning) x 12 (crates of mangoes at the beginning), which equals 504. Then I did 504 – 4 (rotten mangoes), which equals to 500. And finally I divided 500 by 10 (new number of mangoes per crate), which equals to 50. So I knew 50 was the answer. That is pretty simple, for me.
For Criterion C (Communication in Mathematics), I think I will get a 4 or a 5 out of 6. I think I would get this mark because I am confident with the vocabulary on the test. But when I was explaining a problem using only words, I sometimes didn’t use proper vocabulary.
For Criterion D (Reflection in Mathematics), I also think I will get a 4 or a 5 out of 6. I think I can explain the reasons why things are as it is, but to a limit of sometimes forgetting to use proper vocabulary. I would definitely like to get into the habit of using proper mathematical vocabulary. I believe my idea still comes across even when I do not use proper vocabulary.

Thanks for reading on my blog!
