In class, we were supposed so discuss about a Nigerian or English proverb. The description below is my own, to see other descriptions, goHERE.
"Where the water rules, the land submits" (Naidoo 149). ~ A Nigerian Proverb
The literal meaning of this Nigerian proverb is that when water is in the ocean, lake, etc., the land would have disappeared underneath the water. The second meaning of this proverb is that if you're stronger, or at least act stronger, the others would listen because they would be afraid, since they are weaker. An example of this, was at the beginning of The Other Side of Truth; the authorities of Nigeria resulted in the people of Nigeria cowering before them.
