I have started my next Design Cycle which has the AOI of Community and Service, and in the subject of Chinese! In this Design Cycle, I have to make a podcast explaining a legend regarding the importance of Chinese New Year, which is coming up soon. But before we start creating, we have to find out how to make a good podcast. After listening to a good podcast, The Fox and the Wolf from an album called The Story Home, I have made a conclusion to what makes a good podcast.
In order to make an excellent podcast, the tone of voice needs to capture the audience. For example, when doing dialogue, it should be different for each character, and you must speak as the character in the story would speak. The speaker used her voice to make the story more interesting by adding expression to her voice. For example, she raised her voice in anger when explaining the fox's thoughts about the wolf. In the story The Fox and the Wolf, when the wolf howled, the story teller did as well, imitating the wolf. However there was no other additional sounds than that; no music, or sound effects. In the story, the story teller laughed when the fox did. The made the story more interesting, which engaged my attention, because the fox was laughing with evil in his voice, so when the story teller laughed, it was scary, captivating the attention of the audience. The use of visuals could have enhanced the podcast by showing the setting. The visuals could also increase the emotion; if the visual included bright colors (like yellow or pink) then it would make the audience feel happy. But if it included dark colors (like black and dark blue) it would make the audience feel scared and anxious.
Thanks for reading on my blog!
