Design Cycle 2 - Community and Service, Environments, Human Ingenuity

I have recently made a design cycle in Science. The challenge was to create a 3D model on SketchUp consisting of a sustainable island. This design cycle falls into the Community and Service, Environments and Human Ingenuity category.
It falls into Community and Service because the project provided service to the community. If the model was made in real life, it provides service to the students and staff living in the boarding school. But even if it wasn't created in real life, (since my design cycle only had the boarding school and the renewable energy structures) my project informs the society on different, and eco-friendly, methods to gather energy.
This design cycle falls into the Environments category because I had to be cautious of the impacts the structures on my model would have on the environment. An example of this is the mindful decisions about the pacific energy gathering methods I will use, and I choose the methods by the impacts it would have on the environment. I choose the methods that produce no pollution!
And lastly, this design cycle has fallen into the Human Ingenuity category. This is because the Science, inventions, advances, etc., has affected the structures that I have used in my model to make it more eco-friendly. But some advances has had a worst impact on the environment than the inventions it was influenced by.

Humanities Unit 1 - Human Ingenuity

My first unit in Humanities was about Mapping skills. The AOI was Human Ingenuity. Human Ingenuity has to do with how the inventions and advances people made in the past, and how it affects ourselves now. The guiding question for that unit was 'How can I better understand the world?'. That was a problem people from the past encountered. And in that unit I investigated how to, too. So I think this unit was very fitting with the AOI.

Music Unit 2 - Human Ingenuity

My second unit in music is all about Stairways to Heaven! It falls into the Human Ingenuity category. I think this is because we looked how the Elements of Music can be manipulated to create new 'versions' of something old. The 'something old' would be the song Stairways to Heaven. In the unit we listened to different versions of Stairway to Heaven to investigate this.

Science Unit 1 - Human Ingenuity

The first unit for Science was about the Scientific Method. This falls into the Human Ingenuity category. I think this is because people in the past had to find out a efficient method to learn more about our world. In the unit we had to investigate why learning the scientific method help to communicate ideas more effectively, as people in the past had to.

Math Unit 1 - Human Ingenuity

My first unit in Math was Whole Numbers. It falls into the Human Ingenuity category. I think this is because people in history had to overcome the problem of operating with whole numbers. How they overcome the problem is by using the same number system we use today. The purpose of the unit was to learn how to estimate and operate with whole numbers, as that was the significant concept of the unit.
